Who are we and what do we do?

#open is a networking app for straight and LGBT, couples and singles, facilitating communications between people interested in polyamory and alternative sexual preferences such as more than one partner at once.

Our #open app is operated by Open App, LLC (“#open”).  #open is the data controller responsible for your personal information.   Open App, LLC is registered in the State of Connecticut, United Sates of America.

What personal information do we collect?

Our primary goal in collecting personal information from you is to give you an enjoyable customised experience while allowing us to provide services and features that most likely meet your needs.  In order to do so we will need to collect certain personal information from you.

For example, when you initially sign up to #open, we will collect certain personal information from you.
We may also collect additional contact details from you should you decide to contact us for any reason or other personal information relating to your use of #open and/or your devices, such as a telephone number. 

When you initially sign up and create an account we require the following personal information from you:

  • Your name;
  • Your status - single or in a couple ;
  • Your gender identity;
  • Your sexuality;
  • Your age;
  • Age and gender of who you are looking for ; and
  • Your location (this is only used when you use the app).

When completing your profile you can provide as much or as little detail as you see fit. However, the more detail you provide, the more you will get out of #open.

We may also collect certain personal information regarding your use of and activity on #open (for example, what connections you have made).

Further we may collect personal information regarding your mobile device, computer hardware and software used to access #open.  This may include the following:

  • IP address of device(s) used;
  • browser type;
  • operating system and device type;
  • approximate location (e.g. London or New York);
  • access times and dates; and
  • referring website addresses.

How do we collect personal information?

We do not collect personal information about our site visitors or online registered users or subscribers from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organisations.

We collect and use your personal information to operate #open efficiently and to deliver the very best service to you.

In particular, we may use your personal information to administer your account, analyse your use of #open and, subject to your consent, for marketing purposes.

Internal record keeping — It’s in our legitimate interest to ensure that we keep our records up to date in order to monitor who uses our service and to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

    Monitoring content — It’s in our legitimate interest to monitor the users of #open to ensure we can fulfil our obligations to them, monitor their compliance and protect or comply with their legal rights and obligations.

    Marketing — It’s in our legitimate interest to market our business.  You can choose not to be contacted in this way when you register with us and at any time afterwards.
  • Unless you tell us you don’t want to receive them, we may use your personal information to contact you by email, telephone and/or post to send information or promotional material on the products and/or services of #open.

Sharing information with other third parties — It’s in our legitimate interest to share personal information with such third parties to enable them to process your information on our behalf, to comply with and/or enforce our legal rights and obligations, to protect the rights of third parties, and to facilitate business transitions.

You are required to be at least 18 years old to use #open so we do not intentionally collect personal information from anyone under 18, and no one under 18 should attempt to submit any personal information to #open. Should we discover that any such personal information has been delivered to any of the sites, we will remove that personal information as soon as possible.

#open uses certain cookies and other similar technologies of which you should be aware.

We do not monitor, control, or endorse the personal information collection or privacy practices of any third parties.

How long to we keep your personal information for?

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for.

We are committed to keeping the personal information you provide us with secure and will take reasonable precautions to protect your personal information from loss, misuse or alteration.

Please note that in order to exercise your rights, you will be required to follow our identification procedures so that we are sure you are who you say you are!
